Associate in Applied Science

Accounting

This Degree is offered for students seeking entry-level positions in accounting and associat­ed fields such as accounts receivable, accounts payable and bookkeeping.

Graduates will be able to:

  • Implement the accounting cycle.
  • Analyze a company’s financial position.
  • Create an accounting system for a company using accounting software.
  • Prepare federal and state personal income tax returns using tax software.
  • Evaluate ethical concepts inherent in an accounting environment.
  • Develop operating and cash budgets.
  • Develop supporting documents using Microsoft Excel.

Note:

2.75 GPA in accounting courses and a recommendation by two full-time business faculty.  Students not meeting these requirements will take any other business course.

CIS 101 or CIS 107 is a Pre-requisite for CIS 125. (Test out option for CIS 101 is available. See Testing and Tutoring in M240.)
