Certificate of Achievement

Gerontology

This certificate program is designed for students interested in entry level employment in geriatrics services; i.e., community service agencies, senior living facilities, nursing homes, and long term care facilities.

Upon completion of this certificate, students will be able to:

  • Explain community services dedicated to the elderly population.
  • Assemble services, agencies, resources, and people within a planned framework of action toward the achievement of established goals.
  • Prepare an educational plan for elderly persons and their families concerning life transitions.
  • Demonstrate skills to counsel elderly persons and their families. 

Note:

A grade of "C" or higher is required in ALL courses in order to earn a Certificate of Achievement in Gerontology.
