Career Certificate

Homeland Security

The Career Certificate in Homeland Security is intended to give in-service students a level of achievement that they can use to further their careers and to give pre-service students pursuing the Associate in Science Degree in Homeland Security (AS.HLS) with a significant milestone on their path toward achievement of their degree.

Upon completion of the certificate, students will be able to:

  • Understand the definition of terrorism.
  • Differentiate between state-sponsored terrorism and individual or group terrorism against a state.
  • Define the term ‘genocide.’
  • Explain why the war on terror will likely continue for years to come.
