Information Technology - Web and Mobile Development

The Information Technology major is designed to provide students interested in beginning, changing, or advancing technology careers with a broad-based background in all areas of Information Technology.  IT majors with this option are qualified for positions as a Web Applications Developer, Web Support Specialist, and Web Manager and Administrator.  Students will be prepared to support computing in a networked environment and also be able to transfer to selected institutions of higher learning.

  • Demonstrate knowledge of fundamental concepts and theories of Information Technology (Networking, Security, Databases, Information Literacy).
  • Apply various problem-solving and critical-thinking techniques to develop algorithmic solutions.
  • Utilize productivity software suitable for use in a professional environment.
  • Demonstrate communication skills, professionalism, and ethical behavior as an Information Technology professional in a culturally diverse business environment.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of web based development and support technologies.
  • Demonstrate skills to implement a web based application system.

Note:

A.  For CIS 294, Internship Program, students must have a 3.0 GPA and recommendation from a CIS full time faculty.  

B.  It is recommended that students enroll in their first WI course upon completion of EN 101. For a list of WI courses available for registration, go to: www.pccc.edu/home/writing-intensive-courses

C. All Career and Option Requirements courses require a passing grade of "C" or higher.
