HS 210 - Counseling and Treatment of Addictions
This course focuses on the student acquiring the clinical knowledge necessary to work in the field of addictions. The diagnostic criteria set forth in the current Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders (DSM) will be discussed. The causes of addiction and methods of treatment will be explored. Defense mechanisms will be reviewed. The student will develop the counseling skills necessary to treat the addicted population.
