Northeast Resiliency Consortium (NRC)
Northeast Resiliency Consortium
As climate change, ecosystem degradation, and violence continue to be urgent threats to the environmental, social, and economic health of their communities, seven community colleges in the United States’ Northeastern region joined forces to create the Northeast Resiliency Consortium (NRC), in partnership with Achieving the Dream and the Carnegie Foundation for the Advancement of Teaching, to take strategic action and leadership to build a highly skilled and qualified workforce to help mitigate their communities’ short- and long-term vulnerabilities and risks. The NRC, led by Passaic County Community College (NJ), includes Kingsborough (NY), Housatonic (CT), Bunker Hill (MA), Capital (CT), LaGuardia (NY), and Atlantic Cape (NJ) Community Colleges—all recently affected by crises and natural disasters including Hurricane Sandy, Sandy Hook Elementary shootings, and the Boston Marathon bombings—are committed to taking a catalytic approach to using knowledge, innovation, and education to build resilient workers, institutions, and communities.
